I've been overwhelmed with inquiries about my waiver application hand-hold service since it was relaunched a few weeks ago. If you've inquired, thank you for your patience. I will respond as quickly as possible.
Thanks to those who participated in my recent poll "Do you have an I-194 waiver?". It turns out that of those who participated over half have applied or intend to for the I-194 waiver (Advance Permission to Enter as a Non-Immigrant). It is also interesting to note that the amount that have 1 year or 5 year waivers are very close (3 to 4). I had read somewhere that the waivers were granted as 1 year or 5 based on the degree or seriousness of the past offenses. If this is true, then wouldn't a person expect that if he/she were granted a 5 year waiver, he/she should always expect the 5 year waiver? I'd be happy to hear your comments and personal experiences on this. Update: See I-192 Waiver Application Process
I will try to lend a hand here. I have successfully prepared a first-time waiver application and am now using it for multiple entries as a truck driver...
ReplyDeleteI took a LOT of time and care in preparing the application and many people say I should start a service but I simply don't have the time for it. I am not your stereotypical trucker though; if you looked at me you may mistake me for a lawyer or accountant. In fact I do have a basic accounting background, but that was more than 20 years ago after high school.
I want to freely share what I have learned (when I have the time!) and am learning as I go to make sure you have UP TO DATE information because even information only months old can be outdated and we all know that government agencies change policies all the time.
As I post you will begin to know more about me :)
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR U TO GET THE WAIVER
ReplyDeleteI applied in July 2010 and I'm still waiting so it varies lol
ReplyDeleteYou have been waiting 3 years for a response?
Delete3 years is obviously not the norm.
ReplyDeleteAPPLIED FOR WAIVER IN NOV 2012 AND RECD IT MID APRIL 2013 . IFV U HAVE ALL PAPERS AND IT DEPENDS ON YOUR OFFENCE
ReplyDeleteAny exerp from describing offenses and rehabilitation. Looking for inspiration
ReplyDeleteMy husband applied for his first waiver on Jan 02/13 at the Pigeon River boarder crossing in Northwestern Ontario. We prepared it ourselves following the instructions on the I-192 application. He recieved it in the mail today for one year. We did not get an advanced email or was it regestered mail. We will start the process again soon and hope for a 3 year next time.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me reasons why a waiver application may get denied? I have drug trafficking, weapons and money laundering convictions. But only happen once.
ReplyDeleteMay anyone give advice.
Has anyone been denied a waiver and successfully appealed ?
ReplyDeleteI haven't been denied, but I applied 19 months, YES, 19 months ago and still haven't had a response other than an email saying they we're still working on it.
ReplyDeleteWhat I'd like to know is why it's taking so long and if anyone else here had to wait that long.
at month 13 here. Had an inquiry from them last May for some docs I had already provided
ReplyDeleteat month 13 here. had an inquiry from them at month 6 for docs I had already provided in the original application. will advise if/when I get it
ReplyDeleteHas anyone gone to the pre-clearance at Toronto's Pearson airport? How long is the wait and what time should i be there. I understand they only process the waiver applications on Saturdays now?

ReplyDeleteIf you successfully obtain a record suspension, and have never tried crossing the US border, then the US will have no idea about the criminal record if the RCMP database has removed said criminal record.
Now the question is....How do you deal with "have you ever been convicted of a criminal offense?"
