Why would the United States have deemed the Toronto mayor inadmissible?
Admitted drug use is one basis for inadmissibility, said Ms. Somerleigh, but there are more than 60 grounds on which entry could be denied. The “admissibility and inadmissibility of aliens” into the United States is governed by the Immigration and Nationality Act, which divides grounds for denial into several major categories, including health-related, criminality, security, labour certification, illegal entrants and immigration violations and documentation requirements. Ms. Somerleigh said a Customs officer may have asked the mayor directly about drug use, or could have already had knowledge of it, “because everyone does.”

Thank you for sharing these valuable information. I have a question about reference letters for US entry waiver.
ReplyDeleteI called the Port of Entry and the officer told me I need 2 of them. But the Pre clearance centre at the airport told me I do not need to provide reference letters. I am really confused. It is a lot of hassle to get the letters. My question is if I do not provide the letters, will my waiver be refused? I have an appointment with the pre clearance centre next week and I greatly appreciate if anybody that has got the waiver approved recently could share their opinion on this. Thank you very much.
The Globe and Mail said today that he might be traveling to the United States for medical reasons due to his current health issues. I assume he would need humanitarian parole (as well as a US Waiver application in the pipeline) in order to cross the border in USA.
